Audio-Visual Neuromodulation

A non-pharmacological approach to neuropathic pain

The Sana Device is an FDA-granted headset that uses gentle, synchronized light and sound designed to help calm the nervous system signals that drive chronic pain — in a 16-minute daily session.

What does a session feel like?

Most people find it deeply relaxing. You put on the device like a sleep mask, close your eyes, and let it run. There's nothing to do — just rest and let the light and sound work.

What you see
Gentle, shifting light through closed eyelids — soft and rhythmic, never jarring. You control the brightness to whatever feels comfortable.
What you hear
Soft, synchronized tones through headphones that move in time with the light. Calm and quiet — adjust the volume to suit you.
How it feels overall
Many people feel calm or even drift into a light rest. There's no discomfort. If anything ever feels off, you can stop the session instantly.

How the Sana device works

Chronic neuropathic pain isn't just a problem at the site of injury — it's rooted in how the nervous system has learned to amplify pain signals over time. The Sana device works at the source: the brain itself.

1
Light and sound enter the brain simultaneously
The device delivers precisely timed pulses of light through the lenses and sound through the headphones at the same moment. This synchronization is key — the brain processes them as a unified signal.
2
The brain begins to synchronize its activity
The rhythmic, synchronized stimulation is thought to encourage the brain's own neural activity to align — a process called neural entrainment. This is similar to how music can shift your mood or energy: the brain may naturally follow a strong, consistent rhythm.
3
Pain-processing pathways begin to calm
In people with chronic pain, the nervous system is often in a heightened state — constantly amplifying pain signals. The entrainment effect is proposed to help down-regulate this overactivity, potentially reducing the brain's sensitivity to pain signals.
4
With regular use, the effect builds
Like physical rehabilitation, the benefits of neuromodulation tend to deepen over consistent sessions. The nervous system may gradually recalibrate, and many patients notice meaningful changes in their pain levels over weeks of regular use.
5
No medication required
Because the Sana device works through sensory stimulation rather than chemistry, it carries none of the side effects or dependency risks of pharmacological pain treatment. It can be used alongside existing medications or as part of a broader pain management plan.

Simple. Comfortable. 16 minutes.

Sessions take place in the comfort of your own home.

1
Get comfortable
Sit or recline in a quiet spot. Remove glasses and bulky headwear.
2
Headphones in, device on
Plug in your headphones, put on the device, and slide the power switch on. The lenses glow amber, a tone sounds, and the session begins automatically.
3
Close your eyes and relax
That's all. The device does everything. Adjust brightness and volume using the buttons — right side controls light, left side controls sound.
4
Session ends automatically
The light and sound will turn off when the 16 minutes are up. Slide the power switch off and you're done.
